Get Ready to Game Your Training!

Imagine a training app with games for dogs, birds, reptiles, or even kids! The #GameCraftLearning app is coming—add your own training plans & join a community of playful learners. What species will YOU train?

Hi, I’m Jamie Robinson, and after 50 years training dogs, seals, otters, and even humans, I’ve learned that training is all about progress, not perfection. My book, The GameCraft Philosophy, describes the 10 playful modules to train any species—dogs, birds, or even kids! Plus, stay tuned for the #GameCraftLearning app, where you can access training games and build your own plans. Pre-order the book today and join our community of playful learners!

Are You Ready

Training isn’t just about your animal—it’s about you, too. I’ve worked with dogs for 50 years, and I’ve learned that if the handler isn’t ready, the dog won’t be either.

To Train?

In GameCraft Learning, we start with a “pre-check” to make sure you’re both set to succeed. Think of it like checking if your computer has power before you start typing—if it’s not plugged in, nothing’s going to happen.

What Is GameCraft Learning?

01

Getting Ready to Train (The Pre-Check and Command Prompt)
In the GameCraft Learning philosophy, we call this vital stage "assessing readiness."

02

Building Skills Through Play (The Core Modules)
This section covers how to scan the environment, predict routines, flag errors, and execute tasks, all through games that make learning fun.

03

Proofing and Planning (The Architect and Compiler)
In GameCraft Learning, we use two key steps to make this happen: planning the training like a roadmap, and proofing the skills so they’re reliable in any situation.

04

Growing the System (The Community Hub)
In GameCraft Learning, this means creating your own games, learning more about your animal, and joining a community where people like you share ideas to make training even better.

Canine Game Theory

Imagine you're playing a strategy video game. You have to make smart choices, thinking about what your opponent might do, to try and win. Game theory is kind of like that, but it's a way that smart people (like mathematicians) analyze any situation where different "players" (in our case, you and your dog) are making choices that affect what happens to everyone involved. It helps us understand why we make the decisions we do when we're trying to get the best outcome.

In Canine Game Theory, we think of training as a non-zero-sum game where both you and your dog can come out on top. You create "games" like teaching your dog to come when called or to wait patiently. The dog's best move in these games – the one that gets them the best reward – is the behavior you're trying to teach.

Jamie Robinson

I’ve been training dogs for 50 years, from seals and otters in the 70s to my service dogs Chesovy, Micah, and Brynda, who’ve taught me more than I could ever teach them. This book, GameCraft Learning, started as a spark from my grandson Adam, a skilled trainer who saw the magic in my play-based methods and pushed me to share them with the world. It’s for anyone who loves animals—dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, or even kids—and wants to train with joy, not stress. Here’s how I’ve done it, and how you can too.
